Hey New Leafer!

This edition of the New Leaf Rundown is all about the numbers .

The Gravy Plane

"Ontario taxpayers are on the hook for nearly $200,000 over Premier Doug Ford's flip-flop on a $28.9-million private jet purchase, newly released documents from the premier's office show"

The government released the details of the Gravy Plane purchase, and it doesn't look right at all. We all paid to have, and then sell, this luxury jet. Thanks Doug!

$500,000,000 - or is it?

Metrolinx and the Ford government are refusing to disclose the amount of a confidential taxpayer-funded settlement paid to Craft Kingsmen Rail (East) Corp., a development group led by Carmine Nigro, a close friend, political appointee, and guest of honour of Premier Doug Ford

The company originally sought $500 million in compensation for "air rights" over Toronto rail lines that it had agreed to buy for $78.7 million but never actually owned before they were expropriated. While Metrolinx lawyers previously argued the group's plan to build high-rise towers in that space was "physically impossible," they ultimately settled the dispute out of court late last year.

Premier Ford has dismissed questions about the payout, calling it a "private sector business" matter despite it involving a provincial Crown corporation and public funds. Read more about this in The Trillium .

Doug Ford Fibs about Students

Premier Doug Ford and his pals have once again been caught using "alternative facts" to justify their heartless cuts to student financial aid.

Despite Ford’s claims that the OSAP program was being "abused" to justify gutting the program, newly released data reveals that the vast majority of students were using the funds exactly as intended: to gain an education and climb the economic ladder. In reality, just 909 cases of OSAP misuse was investigated by the province in 2025.

This latest revelation proves that the overhaul was never about fiscal responsibility, but was instead a calculated attack on low-income students and their dreams of affordable post-secondary education.

While the Premier continues to manufacture excuses for his austerity agenda, it is Ontario’s students who are paying the price for his government’s dishonesty.

Commission's Updates:

A congratulations to our Commissions!

We want to extend our deepest gratitude and warmest congratulations to the Ontario Liberal Party Commissions for their relentless hard work and continued passion. Your commitment is the engine driving our movement forward as we build a stronger, more inclusive Ontario for everyone.

We are especially proud to celebrate two major milestones from our Rural and Northern Commission : the incredibly successful launch of the Rural and Northern Fund and the very successful Rural Roads to Victory Gala . These initiatives are vital in ensuring that every voice, from the Far North to the Ontario Heartland, is heard and represented.

Our progress doesn't stop there. We are excited to congratulate the OSC on their official launch of the Senior’s Commission website , a critical new hub for advocacy and connection. In addition, we are continually inspired by the tireless, ongoing work of the Women’s Commission (hooray for the South West Provincial Women’s Liberal Club!) and the Ontario Young Liberals (OYL) , whose advocacy and grassroots organizing continue to empower the next generation of leaders.

Thank you for your service to our party and our province!
