Who are you? What is 'New Leaf Liberals'?
- New Leaf Liberals is a grassroots movement of Ontario Liberals — organizers, activists, former candidates, and members — working to renew the Ontario Liberal Party so it can win the trust of Ontarians and form the next provincial government. We organize across riding associations, host local gatherings, publish The Path Forward manifesto, and invite Liberals to join a province-wide effort for stronger riding associations and an open, competitive path to defeating Doug Ford.

- New Leaf Liberals operates as an independent grassroots alliance. We welcome Liberals of every background and stay open to a wide field of leadership aspirants so the party can choose the strongest path to government.
Why do you want an open leadership contest in 2026?
- Doug Ford must be defeated at the next election. We are convinced that the best path to victory against Doug Ford is through a leadership race that attracts a wide range of candidates, helps retain our existing members while gaining new ones, and demonstrates our firm commitment to electing a Liberal government.
What does New Leaf Liberals want from the upcoming leadership election?
- We are committed to rebuilding the Ontario Liberal Party, regardless of what happens in upcoming leadership elections, to defeat Doug Ford. In our view, this means more active and strong PLAs, the inclusion of new voices within the executive council, and candidates equipped with the best possible tools. We believe that a change at the top of the party will allow us to achieve these goals. Regardless of the outcome of the leadership election, we will continue to advocate for the best possible version of our party, because what matters is forming the next provincial government.
